Of Whisky, Castles & Golf
Scotland's Most Exotic Golf Region
The opening of the spectacular Trump International Golf Links on the rugged Aberdeenshire coast cemented the area's reputation as one of Scotland's premier golf destinations. Already blessed with Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay, and Murcar, the latest addition makes Aberdeen a very juicy proposition for links lovers.
But this tour starts further north, in the utterly mysterious Highlands — where Royal Dornoch (Scotland's #1 rated course), Castle Stuart, and the charming Brora are hidden gems at remarkably friendly prices. Add Dunrobin Castle, whisky distillery tours, and optional day trips to Loch Ness and Eilean Donan Castle.
Seven rounds in eight days across some of the most dramatic golf landscapes in Scotland. This is the links lover's dream — wild dunes, few crowds, and more golf history per mile than almost anywhere else.

Day by Day
A suggested flow for your eight days in the Highlands and Aberdeen. Every day is flexible.
Into the Highlands
Arrive at Inverness Airport. Private transfer to the Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch (approx. 1 hour north). The hotel sits on the first tee of Royal Dornoch — your room may overlook the course. Evening walk through the tiny cathedral town and dinner at the hotel's Morris Bar.
A Highland Charmer
A short drive north to Brora — James Braid's most northerly memorial, a links where sheep and cattle share the fairways. At Par 69, it's shorter than its neighbours but full of character. Watch for the electric fence protecting the 5th green from cows. Afternoon whisky distillery tour at Clynelish or Glenmorangie.
Scotland's Number One
The crown jewel of the Highlands. Royal Dornoch sits just 8 degrees below the Arctic Circle yet feels timeless — raised plateau greens, gorse-fringed fairways, and views across the Dornoch Firth. Consistently ranked Scotland's #1. Tom Watson once said "This is the most fun I've had playing golf." Afternoon tour of Dunrobin Castle — Scotland's most fairytale stately home.
Highland Showstopper
An hour south to Castle Stuart, near Inverness — created by Mark Parsinen (the same visionary behind Kingsbarns). The course hugs the Moray Firth with views across to the Black Isle. It hosted the Scottish Open four times. Transfer onward to Aberdeen (approx. 2.5 hours through stunning Cairngorms scenery). Check in to The Chester Hotel.
The Great Dunes of Aberdeen
Trump International embraces mile after mile of spectacular Aberdeenshire coastline. Set amidst some of the tallest and most dramatic dunes in Scotland, this is a links experience unlike any other — wild, exposed, and visually stunning. Return to The Chester for evening. Second distillery tour at Fettercairn or Glen Garioch available.
The Sixth-Oldest Course on Earth
Royal Aberdeen's Balgownie Links is the sixth-oldest golf club in the world — majestic dunes, rugged Scottish terrain, and an outward nine that runs along the coast before the inward nine returns through more sheltered ground. Afternoon visit to Braemar Castle or a walk through Old Aberdeen.
Double Header Finish
Morning round at Cruden Bay — often called "the Ballybunion of Scotland" for its towering dunes and dramatic routing. The back nine is among the most memorable in links golf. Afternoon return to Trump International for a second crack at the Great Dunes — different wind, different experience. Farewell dinner at The Chester Hotel tonight.
Slàinte Mhath
Full Scottish breakfast, then private transfer to Aberdeen Airport. Or extend — we can add St Andrews, Edinburgh, or a Highland road trip to Loch Ness.
