Booking & Planning
How far in advance should I start planning my golf trip?
For the best availability — especially at popular courses and during peak season (April through September for Europe and the British Isles) — we recommend starting 12–18 months in advance. For iconic courses like The Old Course at St Andrews, even earlier planning can be beneficial. That said, don’t hesitate to reach out with shorter lead times. Our team is experienced at crafting incredible trips with less notice depending on your flexibility and destination.
What makes Golf & different from booking a trip myself or through a general travel agency?
We specialize exclusively in personalized golf travel. Our deep-rooted relationships with courses, hotels, and transport providers — built over 25+ years — give you access to tee times, insider knowledge, and seamless logistics that a general agency or independent booking simply can’t replicate. The complexity of coordinating international travel for a group, managing changes on the fly, and securing access to exclusive courses makes using a specialist invaluable. Plus, you get Jack’s personal, 24/7 on-call support throughout your trip — no call centers, no automated systems.
Can you help secure tee times at highly sought-after courses?
Yes — this is one of the biggest advantages of booking with us. Our longstanding relationships with courses worldwide, including many of the most exclusive and sought-after, allow us to secure tee times that individuals or other operators may not be able to obtain. Some courses have specific booking windows or visitor restrictions, and our expertise navigates those complexities for you.
Are your itineraries fully customizable?
100% customizable. Every itinerary we create is built from scratch around your group’s preferences, dates, budget, and playing ability. Our published itineraries are starting points and inspiration — we tailor every detail from courses and hotels to dining, whisky tours, cultural excursions, and non-golfer activities.
Payments & Pricing
What deposit is required to confirm my booking?
An initial deposit — typically 20% to 50% of the total trip amount — is required to confirm your reservation. Full payment is due no later than 60 days prior to departure. If full payment is not received by that date, reservations may be canceled and cancellation penalties applied.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments via credit card (Stripe), PayPal, bank transfer, and Wise. Visit our Make a Payment page for details on each method.
Are your prices subject to change?
All prices are valid at the time of quotation and based on exchange rates in effect at that time. Prices are subject to change until your deposit payment is received, at which point your quoted price is locked in.
What is your cancellation policy?
The initial deposit is non-refundable. Additional cancellation fees apply based on timing: 50% of tour cost between 59–30 days prior to departure, 75% between 29–15 days, and no refund within 14 days of departure. For UK destinations, no refunds are given for cancellations less than 60 days prior. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment.
Travel Essentials
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend it. Trip cancellation and travel insurance protects you against unexpected events like missed flights, delayed luggage, illness, or injury. We cannot be held liable for expenses that would otherwise be covered by insurance. Clients who choose not to purchase insurance are required to sign an Insurance Waiver Agreement. See our Travel Insurance page for recommended providers.
Is airfare included in your prices?
No — our prices are quoted without airfare. Many clients prefer to use frequent flier miles or private aviation. Upon request, our travel experts will assist you in finding appropriate flights.
Do I need a handicap certificate?
Yes — all golfers should carry a current handicap card or certificate. Some courses featured in our tours require proof of handicap, and maximum handicap restrictions may apply. Failure to present a certificate may result in being refused access at certain courses.
What about golf carts and caddies?
Electric carts (buggies) are available on a limited basis at most courses. Some courses require a physician’s medical certificate to use a cart, while others require the use of caddies or forecaddies. Cart and caddie costs are typically not included in the tour price unless specifically stated. We’ll advise you on course-specific policies when planning your itinerary.
What if a course I want to play isn’t available?
All golf is subject to availability. If a requested course is unavailable, we’ll substitute a course of similar standing and notify you. The sequence of courses in your itinerary may also be adjusted based on availability — we always aim to deliver the best possible experience.
During Your Trip
What kind of support do I get while traveling?
You get Jack’s personal, 24/7 emergency support for the entire duration of your trip. Our local partners are carefully vetted to ensure the highest standards. You’ll also receive a 24/7 emergency telephone number for an English-speaking contact available throughout your journey. This is not a call center — it’s a real person who knows your itinerary.
Are hotels guaranteed as listed in my itinerary?
We reserve the right to substitute hotels with properties of similar or higher standard if necessary. All rooms are standard twin or double unless you’ve specifically paid for an upgrade. Hotel check-in is generally after 4:00 PM and check-out before noon.
What complimentary extras come with every trip?
Every Golf & trip includes complimentary airport lounge passes and a custom photo memory book delivered after your trip. These are our way of making sure your journey feels special from start to finish — and that you have a beautiful keepsake to relive the memories.
