Day by Day
A suggested flow for your week in Dublin. Self-drive — every course within 90 minutes.
Welcome to Dublin
Arrive at Dublin Airport, collect your rental car, and drive to The Westbury Hotel on Grafton Street (approx. 30 minutes). Located between Trinity College and Stephen's Green, you're at the heart of Dublin's cultural and shopping district. Evening stroll through Temple Bar and dinner at Chapter One (or similar) — included.
Dublin's Links Legend
A 25-minute drive north to Portmarnock — one of the top links courses in the world. The peninsula setting means the wind plays tricks every few holes. Host to Irish Opens, Walker Cups, and the Canada Cup. Return to The Westbury for the evening.
Pat Ruddy's Seaside Masterpiece
Drive south to Brittas Bay, Co Wicklow (approx. 1 hour). The European Club features sweeping sea views from 19 of its 20 holes — Pat Ruddy's personal labour of love, tumbling through dunes just south of Dublin. Afternoon free in Wicklow or return for Dublin sightseeing.
Dublin's Dune Jewel
The Island at Donabate — bordered by the sea on three sides with the highest sand dunes of any links in Ireland. No two holes feel alike. After the round, visit the Guinness Storehouse — a guided tour through seven floors of Dublin's most famous export, finishing with a pint at the Gravity Bar with 360° city views.
The Quiet Classic
Drive north to Baltray (approx. 1 hour). County Louth — affectionately known as "Baltray" — has hosted multiple Irish Opens and is surrounded by the Irish Sea, the River Boyne, and the mountains of Cooley. A championship links that rewards good course management. Return to Dublin.
The Ryder Cup Stage
Drive west to Straffan (approx. 45 minutes). The K-Club Palmer Course needs no introduction — Arnold Palmer's Irish masterpiece, host of the 2006 Ryder Cup. One of the country's top parkland courses. Farewell evening back in Dublin — your Jameson 12yr bottle awaits.
