Castle Course, St Andrews
Castle Course, St Andrews
Perched dramatically above the North Sea on the clifftops east of St Andrews town, the Castle Course is the newest of the six St Andrews Links courses and arguably its most visually spectacular. David McLay Kidd sculpted the layout from the wild headland, delivering a course where the sea is a constant companion and the wind an ever-present adversary.
The Castle Course plays harder than its yardage suggests โ the elevation changes are severe, the rough punishing, and the exposed clifftop positions mean even calm days can turn blustery mid-round. The views from the high points across the Eden Estuary, the West Sands, and out to the Tay are among the finest of any course in Scotland. A must for golfers who want to add a modern classic to their St Andrews experience.
