Real Club de Golf Sotogrande
The original Sotogrande course — predating Valderrama by a decade — Real Club de Golf Sotogrande was the first Robert Trent Jones design in Spain and the course that established the Costa del Sol's reputation for serious golf. The mature cork oak and eucalyptus setting gives it a tranquillity and dignity that newer courses struggle to match.
Membership is exclusive and visiting golfer access is limited, making a round here something genuinely special. The course is slightly shorter than Valderrama but rewards precision over power, and the Guadiaro River comes into play on several memorable holes.
