Old Head Golf Links
Old Head is unlike any other golf course on earth. Built on a dramatic headland jutting two miles into the Atlantic Ocean south of Kinsale, it is surrounded on three sides by sheer cliffs dropping 300 feet to the sea. On a clear day the views extend to the horizon in every direction; on a blustery Irish day, the wind makes every shot a negotiation with the elements.
The course was carved from a 220-acre promontory that was home to an ancient lighthouse and Celtic ring-fort ruins. The routing takes you to the very edge of the cliffs on multiple holes, and the sound of waves crashing below is the constant soundtrack. Golf here is an experience as much as it is a round — one that stays with you for life.
Course Highlights
300-foot cliff drops surround the course on three sides, making Old Head one of the most visually stunning golf venues in the world.
A Celtic ring fort from 2,000 BC and a lighthouse from 1853 sit within the course boundaries, giving it an extraordinary sense of place.
The headland is accessible only to golfers, giving every visitor a feeling of complete exclusivity on the Kinsale peninsula.
With a daily maximum of just 70 golfers, Old Head guarantees unhurried play and an intimate connection with one of nature's great coastal settings.
