The course is raw, natural, and beautifully old-fashioned, with Simpson's elegant routing making full use of the duneland between the estuary and the Irish Sea.
The 14th is considered by many to be the finest par-5 in Ireland — a sweeping dogleg through the dunes that requires three perfectly struck shots. Baltray rewards course management over power, and the warm welcome from a traditional members' club makes the entire experience memorable.
