Day by Day
A suggested flow for your 9 days in South-West Ireland. Self-drive with rental car included.
Welcome to the Wild Atlantic Way
Arrive at Shannon Airport, collect your rental car, and drive to Trump International Doonbeg (approx. 1.5 hours). Check in to your ocean-view suite overlooking Doughmore Bay. Explore the resort, walk the beach, and enjoy dinner at the Ocean View Restaurant, famed for its seafood.
The St Andrews of Ireland
A 40-minute drive north to Lahinch — the "St Andrews of Ireland." Watch for the resident goats who famously predict the weather. After the round, visit the Cliffs of Moher (entrance included) — one of Ireland's most spectacular natural attractions, with 700-foot cliffs dropping into the Atlantic.
Your Home Course
Greg Norman's masterpiece on Doughmore Bay. Brilliantly renovated by Martin Hawtree, the course uses the natural dune amphitheatres and Atlantic headlands to spectacular effect. Five par-5s make this a unique strategic challenge. Afternoon at leisure or visit Bunratty Castle & Folk Park (entrance included).
Atlantic Dune Drama
Cross the Shannon via the Killimer-Tarbert ferry (included) to County Kerry. Ballybunion's Old Course — towering sandhills, cliff-edge greens, and the most formidable dunes in Irish links golf. Tom Watson's favourite course in Ireland. Continue south to Killarney after the round.
Into the Kingdom of Kerry
Complete the transfer to Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa, perched above the Lakes of Killarney with views of MacGillycuddy's Reeks. Check in, settle into your lake-view room, and enjoy an afternoon whiskey tasting in Killarney town (complimentary Jameson 12yr bottle delivered to your room). Dinner at the hotel's Lake Room restaurant.
God Designed the Back Nine
"I may have designed the first nine, but surely God designed the back nine" — Arnold Palmer on Tralee Golf Club. Set on the wild Barrow Peninsula, the course weaves through dunes and clifftops with the Kerry mountains behind. One of Ireland's most spectacular walks.
The Clifftop Masterpiece
A longer drive to Kinsale (approx. 2 hours) for the unforgettable Old Head — 220 acres jutting into the Atlantic, every hole with ocean views. Worth every mile. Return to Aghadoe Heights via the scenic south Kerry coast.
The Hidden Gem of Kerry
A shorter, more relaxed day. Dooks Golf Links near Glenbeigh is a classic Eddie Hackett/Martin Hawtree links on the dunes of Dingle Bay — wildflowers, sea views, and the kind of course where you lose track of time. Afternoon free for a Killarney jaunting car ride or lake cruise.
The Ring of Kerry Finish
Your finale — a scenic Ring of Kerry drive to Waterville, consistently rated one of the top five courses in Ireland. The "Mass Hole" par-3 and the dramatic 17th are unforgettable. Return to Killarney. Tonight: farewell dinner at Aghadoe Heights. Tomorrow: drive to Shannon for departure.
The Courses You'll Play
