Tabarka & the North Coast
Ron Fream's Most Dramatic Course
For golfers who want something beyond the Hammamet mainstream, Tabarka on Tunisia's wooded north-western coast delivers one of Ron Fream's most spectacular designs — the front nine winds through shoreline sand dunes while the back nine climbs into pine-forested hills. It's routinely ranked in Tunisia's top three and remains delightfully under the radar.
Start with two nights at the Four Seasons Tunis on the Gammarth coast — a round at The Residence Golf Course (salt-flat routing near Carthage) and a visit to the UNESCO medina of Tunis. Then drive north-west to La Cigale Tabarka for four nights, two rounds on Tabarka's mountain-and-sea course, and explorations of the Genoese fort, the famous needle rocks, and the cork-oak forests of the Kroumirie Mountains.

Salt Flats & Sea
The Residence Golf Course at Gammarth — a unique routing across salt flats with the Mediterranean alongside. Par 72, 6,175 yards. Afternoon: guided tour of ancient Carthage (UNESCO) — Byrsa Hill, the Antonine Baths, and the Punic ports. Visit the Tunis medina and Zitouna Mosque.
Tunisia's Oldest — 1927
Carthage Golf Club — established in 1927, Tunisia's first course. A parkland layout in the suburbs of Tunis with views of the Gulf. Par 72, 5,922 yards. Afternoon: explore Sidi Bou Said — the blue-and-white hilltop village above the bay.
West to the Mountains
Drive west along the north coast to Tabarka (3 hours through the Kroumirie Mountains — stunning scenery of cork-oak forests and the Mediterranean). Check in to La Cigale Tabarka on the waterfront. Evening walk to the Genoese fort and the famous needle rocks.
Dunes to Mountains — Round One
Tabarka Golf Course — Ron Fream's most dramatic Tunisian design. The front nine winds through sand dunes along the shore; the back nine climbs into pine-forested hills with mountain panoramas. Par 72, 6,789 yards. Afternoon: explore the cork-oak forests or relax at the resort pool.
Mountains Revisited
A second round on Tabarka — different wind, different pins, different light through the pines. Savour the back nine's mountain holes. Farewell dinner at a Tabarka seafood restaurant tonight — coral-fishing capital of the Mediterranean.
